When do you stop?

So we have just got back from our summer vacation in Cuba.
We had a great time, the hotel was as expected, the people were friendly and the weather was hot and sunny. Everything you would expect from a great vacation.
I'm digressing, so when we got to the hotel room and started to unpack our luggage my wife Jackie turns to me and say's "were is the rest of your clothes?" I replied "This is it!".
Before we left I had packed my clothes but also my tripod and quite a lot of photography gear, being a beautiful tropical island I wanted to get the best pictures I could. With a weight limit of just 20 kg I had gone over by about 6 kg, as I desperately wanted to get the best pictures I could I sacrificed the clothes, well 60% of them!

So my question is "At what point do you stop with the photographic gear?"
