Here's the fourth installment of my fast photo tips. These are simple posts filled with several short ideas to help improve your photography. Don't over-think it. Just try it.
Scott Bourne's Fast Photo Tip #10
Image stabilization is a great invention. It gives photographers a chance to hand hold their cameras and get stable shots at slower shutter speeds than would normally be possible. But if you shoot with a camera that uses lens-based image stabilization and you shoot at very high shutter speeds, say 1/1000th of a second or faster, turn OFF Nikon's Vibration Reduction (VR) or Canon's Image Stabilization (IS.) They may actually hurt rather than help stability at those shutter speeds.
Scott Bourne's Fast Photo Tip #11
When photographing infants/babies, get down on their level. Shoot at eye level. Lie down next to them with your camera right on the floor. Shoot into their big beautiful eyes! So many baby photos are taken looking down on the baby. Shooting the baby at their eye level creates such a startlingly different look, most people can't take their eyes off such an image.
Scott Bourne's Fast Photo Tip #12
When shooting HDR into the sun you may need to make more exposures and you will certainly need more dynamic range. If I am shooting HDR into the sun, I make seven exposures from +3 to -3 to allow for wider dynamic range.
